Course DescriptionThis one day course will allow Year 6 teachers to consider how to ensure that the learning needs of a pupil, who is exceeding Level 5 at the start of Year 6 in reading, writing or mathematics, are met through classroom provision and intervention.
OutcomesParticipants will:
• become familiar with Key Stage 3 programmes of study for English and mathematics and consider appropriate intervention for children who are working beyond the Key Stage 2 programmes of study;
• develop their subject knowledge in aspects of the Key Stage 3 curriculum which are not included in the programmes of study at Key Stage 2;
• consider how, through effective assessment for learning, the individual learning needs of these gifted and talented individuals can be met.
