Course DescriptionThis one day course supports the development of consistently good and outstanding teaching of reading through the effective use of guided reading. Participants will explore how guided reading can be used successfully to help children develop their word recognition skills and their language comprehension skills.
N.B. This course is fully aligned with the expectations of National Curriculum 2014 programmes of study for English.
Outcomes Participants will:
• be supported to develop consistently good and outstanding teaching of reading through the effective use of guided reading which can be evidenced through pupil outcomes;
• develop their understanding of how children learn to read;
• be able to plan clearly focused guided reading sessions that address children's next steps in learning;
• understand how, through guided reading, we can encourage a love of reading.
