Course DescriptionThis three day course will enable you to:
• self-assess your current thinking on Assessment for Learning and that of your school, celebrating your achievements and planning your future developments;
• research current thinking on AfL particularly the work of Sue Swaffied and Professor John Hattie;
• challenge your own understanding of the effectiveness of various AfL strategies for example success criteria and differentiation;
• learn the true value of feedback and how to get the most out of the feedback you receive;
• write your own feedback policy and move the thinking of your setting from ‘marking’ to ‘feedback’;
• explore the links between AfL and Loops of Learning and the whole concept of backward planning;
• recognise how classroom talk sets a subliminal agenda of expectation and how to challenge your own language to open the door to ‘beyond expected progress’;
• learn how to teach your children to ‘do better than the best’;
• explore how developing the right learning culture supports AfL in the school;
• undertake active research in the classroom and share findings in the group.
